Once you’ve set up your adventure exactly how you want it, your first major decision in Pokémon Elite Redux will be choosing your starter. The game includes every traditional regional starter from Kanto all the way to Paldea, giving you the full range of classic Grass, Fire, and Water options.
But Elite Redux goes even further—you’re also able to choose from a variety of mono-type starter trios that aren’t limited to the usual Fire/Water/Grass format. These special lineups consist of carefully selected three-stage evolutionary lines designed to support themed or monotype playthroughs. You’ll find a complete list of these unique starter options below.
With so many possibilities, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but don’t worry—there are no wrong choices here. If you’re unsure where to begin, simply pick a region or a Pokémon you like. Every option has been thoughtfully balanced and enhanced by the development team to ensure it performs well throughout the early game.
Do keep in mind that while every type is available, some of the mono-type starters may offer a slightly different early-game experience compared to the classic trio, as they were primarily included to support monotype challenge runs.
Enjoy exploring your options, and choose the partner that feels right for your journey!
